Cancer and Essential Oils: How to use Angelica and cautions

Important information on how to use Angelica:

Angelica essential oil can be applied topically as a compress, in the bath, through direct inhalation, or diffuser.  Add one or two drops of angelica oil to a massage oil, or in the bath, to support lymphatic drainage, to sooth and support digestive function or as part of an overall detoxification program.  For women, apply one to two drops diluted in a carrier oil as a compress over abdomen to support a balanced monthly cycle.

Inhale angelica oil in vapor therapy to help support lung health.  Diffuse angelica oil to support the respiratory system, digestive and nervous system.

More Information:

Angelica oil was known as “holy spirit root” in the Middle Ages due to its almost miraculous healing powers. When the Black Plague swept Europe, the herb was considered an antidote for it, and its seeds and roots were burned to purify the air. “Angelica Water” was also employed when the plague swept London in 1665.  Angelica is used in the preparation of Vermouth and Chartreuse.

Safety Guidelines:

Safety Considerations for Angelica Essential Oil:

Angelica oil is phototoxic. Exposure to UV rays should be avoided for 24 hours after topical application. Non-toxic and non-irritant at low dosage. Avoid use during pregnancy and if diabetic. Do not take angelica essential oil internally.

Essential Oils and more on Angelica

As humans we are biologically organisms of the natural world, we are inherently programmed to defend against the natural world challenges but much less able to defend against a synthetic destructive substance.  We are therefore susceptible to noise pollution and other sensory stimulation which create inner chaos.  These can become characteristic of cancer.

Angelica root is important for innate and acquired immunity, as well as lymphatic drainage especially of neck and head and abdominal regions.  According to Chinese medicine the body has guards (wei chi) and “military bases” (ying chi) to protect it.  Western medicine uses the term mucosal immunity for wei chi, associated with skin and mucous membranes.  These organs are a major force in energetic protective field.    Western medicines liken ying chi to internal cellular and body fluid immune response.  A state of health is sustained as long as both wei chi and ying chi remain strong and harmonize together.

Essential Oils and Cancer: A discussion on Angelica

Angelica, an essential oil, has properties affiliated with an aeration process.  They love water, seeking out watery elements.   Yet it is known to bond with air having hollow stems and stalks or air-chambered root stocks.  As a root oil, Angelica has strong associations with nerve sense systems as well as the metabolic-limb system.  With all this in mind it has been said in our Cancer and Essential Oil book that it may prove a good source in treating exhaustion due to nutritional depletion as well as many gastrointestinal symptoms such as indigestion, flatulence and nausea.

Many of the symptoms for traditional use of this oil are anxiety or exhaustion due to volatile emotions.  Moods of heartache and even addiction to alcohol can be buffered by this watery medium as well as noting its use as a treatment for gastric ulcers and colic.

Angelica balances air and water, the etheric as well as the astral body.  When an imbalance is shown and left uncheck, an overgrowth and loss of control of fluid organisms may occur in cellular overgrowth.  This is physically noticed in glands primarily etheric organs.  Angelica is indicated for swelling, inflammation and induration of lymph nodes, particularly of the head and neck region.  Angelica may have a role in responding to the bioenergetics aspect of cancers of the fluid organism such as myeloma, leukemia and Hodgkin’s disease.  All of these involve the lymphoid tissue with misguided astral behavior.

More on the Cancer miasm and its emotional characteristics

Individuals are apprehensive, with excessive fear, fear of death, fear of disease.  These symptoms become worse at night when alone, and become better with company.  It is associated with chronic insomnia, contradictory states of mind, desires and aversions; restless, unfulfilled, excessively working, a desire for travel and excitement, being dominated by others, oversensitive and anxious for others.  They are romantics, passionate, with feelings of neglect, despair, and feeling of not being loves.  They have a strong sense of duty, love animals, love dancing, have a family history of diabetes, and a high expectation by parents with parents having an excessive parent type of control over them.  They feel suppressed, abused as a child, and yet has a deep sense of attachment to family.    By trying to be all things to all people they are stretched to their limits with no time for rest or freedoms.

Cancer is a manifestation of disequilibrium which creates abnormal cellular proliferation.  What cannot lead to psychological growth becomes a growth of cancer tissue instead.  Malignancy is the expression of disorganized actions in the external world having influences on the internal forces.  Tumors are not the beginning of Cancer but only a sign that cancer is now localized.

The Cancer miasm: What is a miasm

The Cancer miasm

What does the word miasm mean? The dictionary states it means a predisposition to a disease from generation to generation.  Therefore you have a propensity to a condition; this does not mean you will have this condition.  The word is from the Greek meaning stain, pollution or defilement.

Samuel Hahnemann found that chronic diseases have a pattern.  He likened it to an imprinted miasm impeding a wellness progress.  Many people carry the pattern within their DNA but never actually produce the disease.  Each disease carries emotional and physical symptoms.  As an example, there seems to be two major themes in a Cancer miasm.  One is that everything is out of control and I need to bring things under control again or I will be destroyed.  Thus the person stretches his or her limits to keep everything together.  He can be seen as a perfectionist or fastidious, maintaining order over his or her surroundings.  The other is an inability to develop a sense of individuality.  This person cannot differentiate him or herself from other people; being afraid to be different or express opinions, likes or dislikes.  The two themes together make up a Cancer miasm, the perfect atmosphere for Cancer to thrive.

Essential Oils and Cancer: Information from the book

December 6, 2012 I wrote that I received a wonderful early Christmas present.  The book is entitled Essential Oils and Cancer.  It is information from the 4th scientific wholistic aromatherapy conference in San Francisco in 2000.  I mentioned then I would share some highlights I gleaned from it.

The above book, the perfume of a plant most closely represents the spirit of the plant.  Fragrance represents an interaction between terrestrial and spiritual essence such as contained within sunbeams.  So an essential oil would be said to be a mirror that reflects the physical and the bioenergetics nature of the entire plant organism.

So the thought is that although the oil may not be able to exert the same chemical actions of the various parts of the plant, it can mirror the plants bioenergetics reflections.

What does that mean to you?  Because of this soul level of the plant life, traditional Chinese medicine shows this vital life of the oil may in fact open up the psycho-spiritual level facilitating receptivity of the chemicals the oil provides.  The oil directly interacts with the human bioenergy.  These energy fields vibrate at the same frequency of the oils to achieve, what the book on page 29 calls, vital force or a connection with living tissue providing healing on a cellular level.

Thoughts: Excuses

An interesting thought I heard the other day: Excuses are connected to emotions.  This made me think.  Because this is so every time you say, “Yes, but,” or give a reason why you are not successful or not doing this or that, such as eating right, or dieting or exercising, analyze the emotion behind the excuse.  Analyze it well, okay?  It will give you insight into how you think and why.  It may also help you change your life for the better.

Are there any side effects from a Reiki treatment?

Most of the time a person will feel relaxed and uplifted by a Reiki treatment. However, sometimes a person will have what is called a healing crisis. As a person’s vibration rises, toxins that have been stored in the body are released into the bloodstream to be filtered by the liver and kidneys and removed from the system. When this happens, sometimes a person can get a headache or stomachache or feel weak. If this happens, it is a good idea to drink more water, eat lighter meals and get more rest. The body is cleansing as part of the healing process, so this is a good sign. Most people notice a difference after the first treatment, and the benefits grow with repeated sessions.  In an emergency, the patient often shows benefit within five or 10 minutes.
